Blackheath is a village in Surrey near Guildford, often called Blackheath Village in order to distinguish it from Blackheath in south east London.
The settlement appears in the Domesday Book as Blacheatfeld. Blackheath was a hundred (these are not marked on the Surrey map, which shows only Domesday manors), an administrative area, where local leaders met about once a month.[1]
